Edu. In Talks To Get Govt. Schools Back To 100% Occupancy

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Education is in talks with the health ministry to get government schools back to full-time face to face learning amid a drastic drop in Covid-19 cases.

The education minister telling reporters that doing away with hybrid learning is a priority as they look to implement face to face learning on a full-time basis.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many Bahamian students have had to attend classes virtually for months at a time.

While many schools resumed hybrid learning halfway through the 2020/2021 academic year, all public schools in The Bahamas began the 2021/2022 academic year with a virtual learning format, as a result of a surge in cases.

In February, Director of Education Marcellus Taylor said roughly 30 percent of students were not attending classes on the online learning platform.

Hanna-Martin has on numerous occasions highlighted the urgency of getting students back in the classroom to address the significant gaps resulting from the virtual learning environment.
