CUBA – The death toll from Tropical Storm Oscar has risen to at least six, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel announced on Monday, following the storm’s landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in Guantánamo.

Oscar has since weakened to remnants, with the National Hurricane Center saying the storm is no longer a tropical cyclone in its final advisory issued at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Rescue efforts and damage assessments are ongoing as Cuba continues to face challenges from the storm’s impact.
