NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One of the country’s premier junior sprinters had a big decision to make for her upcoming collegiate career – turns out it was good news for the Longhorns.

Jamiah Nabbie signed her letter of intent to join Edrick Floreal’s program at the University of Texas.

Nabbie burst onto the national scene in 2023 at 50th CARIFTA Games when she pulled off the gold medal double in the under 17 girls’ 100m in 11.67 secs and the 200m in 23.67 secs.

NCAA Women’s Basketball

It was another lopsided win for Coach Yo and Ole Miss.

The nation’s 19th ranked team put on another defensive clinic in an 80-42 win over Delaware State Thursday night.

Ole Miss forced the hornets into 23 turnovers which they converted to 30 points.

High School Sports

It was a busy week of action for the first sports on the academic calendar for both the BAISS and GSSSA.

In the GSSSA, volleyball season came to an ended in celebration for the H.O. Nash Lions at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium.

The Lions jr girls defeated the S.C. McPherson Sharks 25-10, 25-19 and the junior boys defeated the sharks 22-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Both senior series are headed to game threes. The senior girls features Government High School Phoenix and C.I. Gibson Rattlers while the senior boys features the rattlers and the C.R. Walker Knights.

In the BAISS, Queen’s College emerged as swimming champions at the Betty Kelly-Kenning Aquatic Center.

The Comets topped the standings with 393 points, followed by the St Anne’s Blue Waves with 349 points and sac was third with 264 points.

Softball and baseball seasons are set to conclude next week.

In softball, both the junior and senior girls championship matchups are set – the latest chapter in the rivalry between the SAC Big Red Machine and the Queen’s College Comets.

Game one in each series gets underway Monday at the Freedom Farm Baseball Complex.

Baseball playoffs for the boys will be hosted at the Andre Rodgers Stadium.
