UNITED STATES – A new Pew Research Center report shows about 1 in 5 americans, including both Republicans and Democrats, regularly get their news from digital influencers, mostly on platforms like X.
UNITED STATES – A new Pew Research Center report shows about 1 in 5 americans, including both Republicans and Democrats, regularly get their news from digital influencers, mostly on platforms like X.
Pew surveyed over 10,000 U.S. adults and analyzed posts from influencers with 100,000+ followers. Topics ranged from politics and social issues to international events.
Most influencers 77% aren’t tied to traditional media, and half don’t lean politically.
Both political parties have embraced this trend, courting influencers to reach younger, diverse audiences during the presidential race.
However, analysts warn this shift could boost misinformation since influencers aren’t bound by editorial standards.
