U.S.A. – Collinique Farrington opened her indoor season with a record setting run.
The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats senior made her season debut at the Crimson and Gold Invitational with a new NCAA Division II record in the 300m.
She ran 37.64 seconds to win in record time while Stephanique Dean finished in second in 38.77 seconds.
Fellow Bahamian, former Minnesota State star and Olympian Denisha Cartwright previously held the record at 38.64 seconds.
She saw her record broken twice over the weekend, first by Hannah Caiola of Southern Connecticut in 38.17 seconds, and then by Farrington a day later.
Farrington and Dean’s success continued in the shorter sprints when they reached the finals of the 60m.
Farrington finished fifth and dean was sixth, both in 7.59 seconds, a national qualifying mark.
Meanwhile, Sasha Wells will be inducted into the Oral Roberts University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Wells was announced as a member of the 2025 class. She was a star in the program from 2017 to 2021 and holds several school records.
Wells holds the oru record in the 60m hurdles in 8.30 seconds and the 100m hurdles in 13.19 seconds.
She also holds Summit League Championship records in the 60m hurdles in 8.36 seconds and the 100m hurdles: 13.29 seconds.
Over the course of her career she was a three time Summit League Track Athlete of The Year, 11 time conference champion and six time Athlete of The Week.
Her senior season in 2021 included an MVP performance with conference championships in the 60m, 60m hurdles 100m, 100m hurdles and was third in the 200m.
Academically she was a four time All-Summit League selection and four time honor roll.
NCAA Basketball
Donnie Freeman is starting to find his groove in the Syracuse Orange offense.
The Syracuse Orange freshman posted his second consecutive career high scoring performance in his team’s 102-85 win over Albany Tuesday night.
Freeman came off the bench to score a career high 24 points, 18 in the second half.
He shot 10-13 from the field and converted all four of his 3-point attempts, another career high.
Freeman is averaging 14 points and 8.7 rebounds per game with four double doubles.
