NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Christmas is just around the corner, and for Junkanoo groups like Genesis Warhawks, the countdown to Bay is on.

The group’s lead costume designer, Theo Cooper, says preparations have been going well.

Being the first group to come out the gates first is often considered a daunting position, but for the youthful Genesis group, it’s a source of pride and motivation.

Genesis is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and cooper says the group is taking inspiration from its roots to bring something spectacular to bay street.

Behind the scenes, it’s been countless sleepless nights for designers and members.

Nicole Sutherland-King, vice chair of the Genesis Warhawks, says this milestone year is all about making a bold statement.

With the support of a new title sponsor, the group says they’re ready to deliver a show that will captivate the crowd.
