UNITED STATES – Starbucks workers launched a five-day strike Friday, citing stalled contract talks with the company. Baristas in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle began the walkouts, with the potential to expand to hundreds of stores nationwide by Christmas Eve.

Starbucks workers united claims the company has failed to negotiate a labor deal this year and resolve hundreds of legal disputes.

Starbucks said the strikes caused “no significant impact” to operations, adding that most stores remain open.

The company called for the union to return to negotiations.
