CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit accusing the company of using its Siri virtual assistant to eavesdrop on users.
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit accusing the company of using its Siri virtual assistant to eavesdrop on users.
The suit alleged siri recorded conversations without being activated by “hey, siri,” and some recordings were shared with advertisers. Apple denies wrongdoing.
If approved by a California court, the settlement could allow tens of millions of iPhones and Apple device users from 2014 to 2023 to claim up to $20 per device, capped at five devices per person.
The proposed terms will be reviewed in court on February 14th.
