NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The US Embassy will soon have a new home, as the United States government is constructing a multi-million dollar facility.

The new embassy will be completed early 2024, according to the Project Director Stephen Ziegenfuss who says the construction phase of the project makes up $225 million of the $310 million overall cost.

Despite the challenges in delays brought on by the COVID pandemic, he says the timeline is still on schedule.

Now as it relates to the durability of materials, Zigginfuss says the building was designed with The Bahamas’ hurricane climate in mind.

The energy-efficient state-of-the-art facility will have cutting-edge technology.

The five-floor building will include a cafe with a balcony view of the cruise ships, conference rooms, cubicles, and collaborative spaces.

The US Mission employs over 200 American and Bahamian Staff.
