NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The crisis-stricken Caribbean country has seen a surge in violence after former Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced he was stepping down in early February.

Port-Au-Prince has been over-run by gang violence and chaos. But it wasn’t always like this says immigration consultant Loubey Georges.

While Georges is optimistic, the future of Haiti remains uncertain.

The transitional council chose a new prime minister earlier this week, but the majority of the council who had nominated an interim prime minister walked back the decision, exposing the internal turmoil of the group charged with leading the Caribbean nation out of a prolonged crisis.

Late on Wednesday, four of the council’s seven voting members issued a statement saying they will go back to an original agreement to choose a prime minister from a pool of applicants, after having tapped former official Fritz Belizaire for the job.

Should some order be returned, Georges believes many Haitians will return home.
