NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Will The Bahamas answer the call to assist in alleviating the crisis in Haiti amid rampant violence in that country? Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell says that’s up for discussion.

Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell explains The Bahamas is keeping a careful eye on what’s happening in Haiti.

Press Secretary Clint Watson confirming that the government is leading a council with CARICOM to figure out what the region needs to do in response to Haiti.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has proposed that countries under the U.N. umbrella send a rapid action force to assist Haiti’s police force remove a threat posed by armed gangs.

But, Haiti is not the only country in the region experiencing a surge in violence. The Turks and Caicos is also facing major issues.

Watson also addressing talk about The Bahamas’ decision to send officers to TCI to help fight crime.
