Bahamians Arrive In New Providence as Hurricane Milton Heads for Florida

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamian students in Central Florida breathing a sigh of relief Monday night after flying through inclement weather to escape Hurricane Milton as it barrels towards central Florida.

Several Tampa and Orlando students told us the 45-minute drive to Orlando lasted three hours. They said the whole ordeal was scary.

Hurricane Milton is predicted to be a major storm when it slams into Florida later this week.

The storm rapidly grew from a tropical storm to a major hurricane in a matter of days.

Floridaians are being warned to prepare for the worst hurricane they’ve ever experienced.

Students tell us the quick decision to come home left little time to prepare.

Vanya, a student at the University of Central Florida, described the ordeal as “crazy.”

“Because we literally just booked the ticket today so it was hectic, especially since school still was today, our classes weren’t canceled,” she said.

But not only students were on board that flight, Inell Bowe traveled to Florida on Sunday and had to cut her vacation short.
