NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One-billion-dollars is spent on food imports annually, something Berkshire Bahamas Farms is looking to slash. While the farm currently produces some of the highest quality pork, they are now expanding into egg production.

The egg production business is hatching, with Berkshire Bahamas Farms importing 2000 chicks.

Terrance Roberts, Managing Director, says this addition not only keeps money in the local economy, but the quality of eggs is also superior.

Another farm located in Abaco lost thousands of chicks during an importation exercise. Roberts says as a novice, that incident gave him the extra push to travel with his new chicks.

The goal is for the farm to produce at least 1000 eggs per day.

If you’re interested in purchasing the free-range eggs, unfortunately there may be limited quantities.
