UNITED STATES – U.S. consumers may be paying more for poultry this winter after a record number of chickens and turkeys died this year after an outbreak of the Avian Flu known commonly as Bird Flu.

More than 47 million birds died from infections and cullings spurring a ban on exported eggs and turkey production.

It means record prices in the U.S. ahead of the holiday season starting next month.

This particular strain of flu survived over the summer when viruses like this typically died due
to rising temperatures.
