EXUMA, THE BAHAMAS – Scores of PLP supporters flocking to the party’s Exuma headquarters in Ramsey, turning out in full force with flags, music and loud cheers, as the campaign trail continues to heat up across the family islands.

Party Chairman Fred Mitchell leading the charge, accusing opponents of hypocrisy and warning about the potential impact of their policies on jobs and key industries, particularly the gaming sector.

“This man we know from our intelligence that he went to ask the business community. Some of whom managed the gaming sector. You know the gaming sector that was legitimized by the progressive body. They went to the gaming sector, asking for funds to support the evidence campaign, and then the next day gone up on the platform and said they can shut the sector down and put 6000 people out of work. What kind of man does that? What the post office savings bank did him just all of a sudden out of the blue is for the pixel on the post office savings bank so he’s gonna close the bank, but he wants to save the ground on the Port Authority shut down the bike. Save the ground Port Authority “ – PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell

PLP candidate for Killarney, Robyn Lynes following up by defending the Davis administration’s track record, pointing to investments in healthcare, education and infrastructure, including roadworks, airport upgrades and social programmes aimed at supporting families.

“We can run on the fact that we have direction for our country. Do you understand it? There are 68 miles of newly paved Road in Exuma because at Exuma is operating on the progress one not two not three and a lot 55 airports under construction and Ragged Island is already finished because that is on the progress” – PLP Killarney Candidate Robyn Lynes

Incumbent MP and Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper is now in a three-way race; facing challenges from the Free National Movement and the Coalition of Independents but, using the rally to connect directly with young people.

“To the young people, you came to me you said you wanted more of a voice, so the Exuma Youth Council is launching because of conversation conversations we had. So to every young person feeling pressure, feeling uncertain, feeling overwhelmed, hear me tonight. You are not alone. There is help. There is a future and we are building a country, and an Exuma where you can find your place. Entrepreneurs, you asked for support and we delivered more than $100 million in grants and loans and technical support through the Small Business Development Centre under the TDC and I can tell you, almost 23% of Exumians now self employed by choice” – Incumbent MP Chester Cooper

Party leader and Prime Minister Philip Davis closed out the night by taking direct aim at the opposition, describing the FNM as divided and out of touch.

“That’s why, when it comes to Exuma, I see a lot of old friends and I see a lot of new ones too. In the PLP, we believe in addition, we are adding opportunities and more and more Bahamians are coming our way. Bahamians are choosing progress. Now over there in the FNM, they doing something else. It sure ain’t addition. It looks more like division. They all broken up. It’s sad. It’s so sad, some of their candidates have started crying on stage, what a sight to behold. Is that one of their tricks, in the politricks, I can’t understand it. Now yall are a sensible people in Exuma, you won’t let a messed up crew like that run a conch stand get in the government” – Prime Minister Philip Davis
