GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The state funeral for the late Obie Wilchcombe has been moved to New Providence; the news came as a surprise for some Grand Bahamians as initially it was announced that it would be held in Grand Bahama.

But in an exclusive interview with Our News, the Rector of the Pro-Cathedral of Christ The King confirmed that a funeral service will also be held in Grand Bahama two days after the state funeral

The state funeral will now be held on Thursday, October 12th in New Providence at Christ Church Cathedral.

As for the funeral service in Grand Bahama that will be held on Saturday, October 14th at the Pro-Cathedral of Christ The King at 10 am.

Now some Gand Bahamians are expressing their disappointment with the state funeral now in the capital as they say Wilchcombe is from Grand Bahama.

Canon Lightbourne is aware of the concern and while he will not be participating in the state funeral in the capital, he says both services will be almost the same.

The eucharistic service in Freeport is expected to attract residents from Bimini as well.

Immediately after the service, the precession will travel to West End for the committal.
