BARBADOS – A Chinese Navy Hospital ship is in Barbados tonight, as Beijing expands its global humanitarian outreach.
The “Silk Road Ark” arrived in Bridgetown for a 7-day friendly visit and medical mission, only the second time a chinese hospital ship has visited the country since 2015.
Barbadian officials, Chinese diplomats and community representatives welcomed the vessel, which left China in September on Mission Harmony 2025, a 220-day tour of about a dozen nations across the South Pacific and Latin America.
The “Silk Road Ark” is China’s second 10,000-ton ocean-going hospital ship and this marks its first overseas deployment, providing free humanitarian medical care along the way.
