COA Reject Killer’s Bid To Reopen Appeal

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Court of Appeal has rejected a killer’s bid to reopen his appeal against his 35-year prison sentence for the murder of Spanish teacher Dale Hepburn. 

Sherman Rhodriquez pleaded guilty to Hepburn’s murder in 2015.

He was sentenced to 35 years in prison, less the five years he’d spent on remand.

In 2016, the Court of Appeal affirmed the sentence after rejecting his appeal.

Seven years later, Rhodriquez asked the Court of Appeal to re-hear his appeal against sentence.

However, the Court rejected his second bid to get a sentence reduction.

On November 2, 2004, Rhodriquez went to Hepburn’s home in Golden Gates and asked to use the phone.

After she let him in, Rhodriquez slit Hepburn’s throat and rummaged through her home in search of money.
