Lady Rebels Advance to 3-0 in the SEC

OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI – University of Mississippi Women’s basketball head coach Yolett “Coach Yo” McPhee-McCuin continues to be the only Bahamian who has ever coached an NCAA power-5 team sport.

Her Rebels are off to a torrid start to their conference schedule after beating the Vanderbilt University Commodores 72-53. With this win – the Rebels’ 7th straight – the Rebels advance to 3-0 in the historically tough Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Guard Angel Baker led the Rebels in scoring with 22 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 2 assists.

Madison Scott contributed 17 points and 9 rebounds in her 6th straight double-digit scoring game.

The Rebels played their trademark stifling defense, harassing the Commodores, holding them to 34% shooting from the field while not allowing them to score at all in the final 5:50 of the first half.

The Rebels’ smothering defense allowed them to score 21 points off turnovers. Ole Miss also dominated the boards, pulling down 14 offensive rebounds, allowing them to score 18 second-chance points.

They held the ‘Dores bench players to 3 points total while scoring 18 bench points of their own.

Vanderbilt’s Ciaja Harbison somehow managed to score 21 points while Marnelle Garraud scored 17.

Coach Yo and the Rebels will try to extend their winning streak on Sunday as they take on Texas A&M in College Station.
