GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Local government has played an integral role in various communities on the Family Islands. Chief Councilor for the city of Freeport Council Frazette Gibson says local government is needed as it is a way to be closer to the people.

She says the council is actively involved in the lives of students as they recently launched several summer camps in Freeport to assist students with their developmental skills from swimming to cooking, sports and dance.
