CUBA – In Cuba, residents are bracing for new economic pressure, as uncertainty deepens in Venezuela.

Cuba has long depended on Venezuelan crude and fuel products, to keep its aging power grid and transport system running.

Residents in Havana told reporters the latest upheaval in Caracas could further tighten supplies, at a time when the island is already grappling with chronic shortages.

According to shipping and import data, Cuba’s oil and fuel imports from Venezuela have fallen about 15 percent, with fuel for power generation hit hardest.
