NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After weeks of intense training, the Department of Immigration has some new four-legged graduates.

Three K-9s are now equipped to help Immigration Officers with tracking, and search and rescue at some of the country’s busiest ports of entry.

Cherika Johnson has this.

These four-legged pedigree dogs received their diplomas from Immigration Minister Keith Bell on Monday after 12 weeks of training made their appointments official.

The two Belgian Maliwas and one German Shepherd are being stationed in the Family Islands.

One of those posts is Inagua – main immigrant entry point.

These K-9s – commonly called man’s best friend – are trained in critical life-saving techniques.
