TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – Trinidad and Tobago has unveiled a new coat of arms, replacing the traditional illustrations of Christopher Columbus’ three ships—Niña, Pinta, and Santa María—with a gold steel pan. This change is part of the government’s broader initiative to replace colonial symbols with those that better reflect the nation’s culture and identity.

The new coat of arms now prominently features the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, along with two pan sticks. The update, confirmed by the government through a social media post, follows the passage of legislation in mid-January.
