NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Can 60 minutes save the planet? Maybe, according the founders of Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is an initiative to switch off the lights around the world for 60 minutes to do something positive for the planet this Saturday, March 25th.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issuing a plea for people around the world to give 60 minutes back to the planet.

During that hour, Earth Hour will shine the spotlight on saving the planet and the huge impact of global warming on climate change.

According to Earth Hour, the next seven years are crucial to ensuring that global temperatures stay within 1.5 degrees celsius limit set out in the Paris Agreement.

If you’re still wondering what you can do with your earth hour, here are some suggestions:

  • Watch an educational video on climate change
  • Listen to a podcast on the topic
  • Join an Earth Hour event
  • Use Google Lens to explore the world around you
  • Take a nature walk – preferably during daylight.

So far, more than 85-thousand people from 160 countries have pledged to give their hour for earth. Will you?
