NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A prisoner who walked out of the Magistrates’ Court Complex in September claimed that a policeman let him go.
London Rahming, 25, denied escaping from lawful custody at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Prosecutors allege that Rahming walked out of the South Street Magistrates’ Court Complex around 5pm on September 23, after he had been sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment for violating his bail by cutting off his ankle monitor.
He was captured on September 25 at Hampton Street.
Rahming’s arraignment had been deferred after his lawyer Bjorn Ferguson raised questions about his mental state.
The arraignment took place today after psychiatrists gave the all clear.
According to Rahming, an officer, whose name he can’t recall, let him leave.
His trial is set for February 9, 2023.
