Facebook And Instagram Get Rid Of Fact Checkers

UNITED STATES – Meta is replacing independent fact-checkers on Facebook and Instagram with “community notes”, The user-driven system is said to be inspired by X.

Ceo Mark Zuckerberg says third-party moderators were “too politically biased” and that the shift reflects Meta’s commitment to free expression. 

However critics call it a move to appease President-elect Donald Trump, who has criticized Meta’s fact-checking as censorship of conservative voices.

Meta says the changes will roll out in the U.S. First, but fact-checking remains in place for the UK and EU.
