NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As families continue to mourn the ten lives lost in Friday’s deadly plane crash, many spent Tuesday at the Princess Margaret Hospital morgue, hoping for answers, and preparing for the difficult task of identifying their loved ones.

The morning began quietly, as other families visited the morgue to view their loved ones.

However, as the day went on, relatives of the plane crash victims began to arrive – many choosing not to speak with the media as they grieved in private.

While remains have been returned to the capital, authorities have not indicated which of the ten victims have been identified, as the tragedy continues to weigh heavily on the country.

The Flamingo Air Cessna 402, registration C6-FLX, crashed into bushes near San Andros Airport on July 10th, claiming the lives of all ten people on board.

Among them were a teenager, several Androsians, a well-known DJ, and members of a local band.

One of those musicians was Giovani McKenzie.

Loved ones remember him as a dedicated keyboardist, a man of faith, and someone who gave countless hours of service to his church.

Outside the hospital, Associate Pastor Shaquille Hanna said McKenzie had told him he would be back in Nassau in time to play for Sunday’s church service.

“A very pleasant young man, he was always a joy to be around…he forged so many relationships you know…with the music team, with the praise team…”

Despite the fact they’re mourning, Hanna says they’re still searching for answers.

“They’re is still uncertainty, they [is] still unclarity, there were obviously persons who were responsible for various aspects of aviation and all these things, so all of these things we just need answers for the community…”

As for how Giovani McKenzie’s life will be honored, Hanna says “We’re still processing, so as we’re processing things, we’re discussing, but there’s no definite thing that we will do, for sure he’s a brother, he’s a friend, he’s family, so you know we go out of our way personally as Revolution Church to do all that we can do…[for] our friends, our families and our offices of the church.”
