USA – A major highway flooded in Florida Wednesday as hurricane Idalia neared the state.

Traffic camera images showed the I-275 interstate flooded northbound as waves washed over the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa. The highway connects Tampa to the nearby city of St. Petersburg across Tampa Bay.

More than 330,000 customers in Florida and Georgia were without electricity while rushing water covered streets near the coast. As the eye moved inland, high winds shredded signs, sent sheet metal flying and snapped tall trees.

It made landfall at 7:45 a.m. as a high-end category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds near 125 mph.
