NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Cases of document fraud, questions about the integrity of the voter register, and claims of attempts to steal an election have loomed in the lead-up to the May 12 general election.

Three former party leaders and prime ministers weighed in on the issue.

Our Jasmin Brown caught up with them moments after they cast their votes at Garvin Tynes Primary School.

Both issues have grabbed headlines in recent weeks.

On Monday, the voter register, which contains the names of over 200,000 voters, was released, and mistakes were included.

The Parliamentary Registration Department has since said the errors will not be of any consequence come election day.

There have also been cases involving fake documents.

In mid-April, a Haitian woman and a Parliamentary Registration Department worker were charged after fake voter’s cards were found.

Still, for former Prime Minister and former leader of the FNM, Hubert Ingraham, it is a cause for concern.

While the party he once led is now claiming that the Davis administration is trying to steal an election, Ingraham is not convinced.

Neither is his former political opponent, as well as former Prime Minister and leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, Perry Christie.

For former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, issues with the voter register are nothing new.
