NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard calling on the prime minister to take action if there were any illegal issues with the Food Task Force under the former administration.

Berthony McDermott reports.

Pintard accusing Prime Minister Philip Davis of “drip-feeding” the public and is urging the prime minister to reveal what steps will be taken to protect Bahamian resources.

His comments were in response to the prime minister’s assertion on Monday that $10 million in public funds sent to the National Food Distribution Task Force simply vanished.

On Monday, Davis said more than $10 million in public funds disappeared after an auditor said two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that were involved in the program and collectively received a disbursement of over $10 million, failed to provide requested information in a timely fashion.

While Davis did not name the two NGOs, the ATI Report, which he tabled in parliament, pointed to Lend A Hand Bahamas and Idea Relief.

Pintard hit out at what he called the prime minister’s attack on NGOs.

Pintard is of the view that Davis’ comments were simply to distract the public from pressing issues and a budget which he says won’t support the ‘New Day’ government’s campaign promises.
