NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court judge has struck out a lawsuit by a policeman who was fired three decades ago.

Willis Symonette enlisted as a constable in April 1992. He was suspended from duty and placed on half pay in October 1992 after he was charged with causing harm and damage.

While the case was pending, Symonette was fired in 1993. However, the magistrate discharged both matters in 1994.

In 1995, Symonette filed a lawsuit against his dismissal.

However, the matter was never prosecuted. In 2018, he hired a new lawyer and filed another suit concerning his dismissal.

Justice Loren Klein agreed with lawyers for the government that the 2018 filing was an abuse of the court’s process.
