GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Meet Darren Cooper, well-known radio talk show host and Grand Bahama businessman. Cooper has been very vocal about his views about the state of Freeport over the years.

In 2022, Cooper and a group of other business owners marched to the Grand Bahama Port Authority to share their concerns about the city.

Cooper who led the group says they did not march to cause a disruption but to ask 13 critical questions in a letter to executives of the GBPA.

He says the executives met them outside GBPA’s headquarters and asked for thirty days to respond to their questions. However, he says two days later the business community was asked to meet with port officials.

Cooper says that was the moment the group of business owners realized the port was not the only one to blame for state of Grand Bahama.

He claims a meeting was then requested from the government but to date that meeting has not happened.

And he maintains his views are in no way personal as he says he has a good relationship with both entities.

He’s also commending the GBPA for the maintenance of the city.
