TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – It’s official, Team Bahamas has done it! For the first time in CARIFTA history, a team , our team, has won seven consecutive CARIFTA Aquatics titles.
This year’s historic victory took place in Trinidad and Tobago at the National Aquatics Centre.

The team finished with an impressive 979 points and 74 medals, including 27 gold.
On the final night, several swimmers stood on the top of the podium, including Sienna Campbell, Dexter Russell, Isabella Munroe, Kimaya Saunders, and Caden Wells, just to name a few.

With not much of a voice left, Team Bahamas’ Head Coach Travano McPhee is already looking ahead to next year.

As is customary, the winning team jumped into the pool once it was officially confirmed they were the 2025 champions.

The team is expected to return to New Providence tomorrow evening, following the Open Water competition in the morning.

Sometime between late last night and early this morning, Team Bahamas returned home after delivering one of the country’s top performances at CARIFTA Track and Field in recent years.

The team secured a total of 37 medals, 16 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze.

Six of those golds came from the field events, and the team also broke two CARIFTA records, thanks to Jade Ferguson in the pole vault and the U17 Boys 4x400m relay team.

To put this year’s performance into historical context:
This marks the most gold medals The Bahamas has captured since the 1984 meet, when the team won 58 medals, including 35 gold.

CARIFTA 53 will return to St. George’s, Grenada in 2026, and so will we.

NBA

VJ Edgecombe has officially declared for the NBA Draft, leaving us with one very important question:
“VJ, where we gern?”

After a standout freshman season at Baylor, Edgecombe is projected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming draft, set for June 25–26 in New York.

The 19-year-old earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 15 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
He led the Bears to a 20–15 record and a run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Underclassmen have until June 15 to withdraw from the draft and retain their college eligibility, but let’s be real, we don’t think that’s going to be necessary.
