GB Official: More Work Needed on Causarina Bridge

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Following several complaints by residents about the Casuarina Bridge in Grand Bahama, the CEO and senior legal counsel for the Grand Bahama Development Company and Lucaya Service Company is speaking out about the reason for the delays and shared details on the construction process.

The 50-year-old Casuarina Bridge in Grand Bahama took a hard hit as a result of Hurricane Dorian.

In 2021 a contract was signed with ABC Construction for repairs to the bridge for a period of seven months.

But according to Charisse Brown, CEO and Senior Legal Counsel for the Grand Bahama Development Company and Lucaya Service Company, once the project was underway, it was found that additional work needed to be done.

She says they understand the frustration expressed by residents.

As for a completion date, the CEO says they are looking at August 2023 and she’s urging motorists to be cautious.

Brown says going forward the company will improve their communications with residents and there will be subdivisions meetings, once per quarter, beginning this month.
