Holiday Bash Spreads Cheer in Nassau Village Community

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A local youth leader did his part this Christmas season to spread holiday cheer, taking his annual Christmas bash to Nassau Village, where countless families received gifts and a pre-holiday meal.

Residents around the country have been feeling the Christmas spirit all week, and in the Nassau Village community, it was no different. The Calvin Brown Foundation took time out to give back, holding a holiday bash at the community park.

There were children playing, enjoying the games and, of course, treats.

It is the fifth year the foundation has thrown a holiday bash, but President Calvin Brown says this one is especially special.

“I’m from Nassau Village, so I’m a son of the soil, so really and truly, my roots are here. And just to give back to the kids who basically don’t have that holiday love, we here just to spread some of that holiday cheer. Me and my phenomenal team, along with some of the amazing sponsors out here from Tasty Tees Foundation, etcetera — the list goes on and on.”

And there were a lot of goodies to go with all of the fun.

“So the kids, we have over 684 presents out. Yeah, it took them at least three to four days to wrap them because it really is a lot.”

Brown says families came from well beyond the immediate community.

“You have parents and kids coming from all over, not just Nassau Village. I had persons inbox me at the last minute asking if they need a voter’s card to get in. No, this is not a political event. This is a foundation founded on spiritual values to give back to the community.”

Brown also serves as youth parliamentarian for the area, adding that it is important for young leaders to give back.

“It’s imperative that we continue to build stronger communities, and with initiatives like this, it would take basically these communities to the next level. So me and my team, if we could just have a small impact, you know, it’s going to continue in the future.”
