NASSAU, BAHAMAS – President of The Bahamas Hotel Catering and Allied Workers Union Darrin Woods telling reporters failed efforts to get an eight percent increase in their salary prompted their protest.

The dozens of Hotel Union members protested at the foot of the Sydney Poitier bridge were joined by representatives from the Taxi Union and Bahamas National Alliance Trade Union Congress.

Woods claims the majority of the hotels have agreed to the increase however he says they haven’t been able to come to an agreement with Atlantis.

In a press statement, Director of Labor Howard Thompson acknowledged speaking to Mr. Woods.

He said, “I ended the conversation by indicating to President Woods that I am aware of the issues and would like to have a sit down with him and the Atlantis representative to see I could assist in resolving the issues”.
