NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Head of the National Emergency Management Agency under fire.

House Speaker Patricia Deveaux lashing out a NEMA Director Captain Stephen Russell today, over the disaster response.

Jasmin Brown has the details.

Deveaux hit out at NEMA, Captain Russell and what she is calling the agency’s lack of response in the Bamboo Town constituency.

Devaux says officials from the Ministry of Works and Ministry of Social Services responded to the scene in Seven Hills, but NEMA officials did not show up.

And she didn’t stop there, suggesting Russell may be better suited for a day job.

Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, who also has responsibility for disaster agencies, Myles Laroda says he spoke to Russell.

Laroda also insists there will be no stone left unturned as it relates to the response, while Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper says the matter will receive attention at the highest possible level.
