VENEZUELA – Direct flights between Venezuela, the United States and the Dominican Republic are expected to resume in the coming months, after nearly three months of suspensions that disrupted travel and tourism.

Industry officials say about eight airlines could return service by April, with up to 30 weekly flights projected, helping restore connectivity and support the country’s economy.

The suspensions followed airspace restrictions linked to regional military tensions late last year, which left passengers stranded and forced travel agencies to cancel bookings during their busiest season.

Officials in Venezuela’s tourism sector say the return of direct routes is expected to boost visitor arrivals and help revive the country’s strained energy- and transport-dependent economy.
