ANDROS, BAHAMAS – A drive from North to Central Andros is roughly 30 minutes, and just like we discovered yesterday, it’s another quiet community on the island known as the Big Yard.

The usually quiet community is now abuzz with talk of one of the deadliest air accidents in the country’s history.

We met some Androsians at a local dock, and the conversation quickly turned to the tragic events just 6 days ago.

Onboard that fateful flight were ten people, including a teen, Androsians, a popular DJ, and bandmates.

However, it wasn’t just the two Andros natives, Quintin Myers and Macaro Rolle, who were well-known on the island.

Da Pond Band member Mateo Winder, was also someone they were familiar with.

Unrelated to the tragic incident, residents are also concerned about the lack of flights coming to the island, leaving many to rely on pilots known as hackers to make the short trip across the Atlantic.

Even for those who properly certified, there’s a call for a closer look at safety.
