NASSAU, BAHAMAS – We got a chance to speak with Jonquel Jones about the Bahamas’ Senior Women’s National Team which she says she is more than ready to be part of.

Earlier this year, The Bahamas Basketball Federation announced that another Grand Bahamian and Ole Miss women’s basketball head coach Yolett Mcphee-Mccuin would be that team’s head coach

Meanwhile, JJ and the Libs beat the the Las Vegas Aces yesterday 90 to 82. JJ led all scorers with a career high 34 points along with eight rebounds and an assist. Kelsey Plum led the Aces with 22 points.

Head Coach: The Goal Is Still The Same

For the very first time, Dwayne Davis Jr. has been named as a national team head coach. He will lead Team Bahamas at the Goodwill Games in Saint Lucia in August.

Davis Jr. served as an assistant coach on last year’s team that walked away with over 100 medals and placed first for the first time.

NACAC Invitational Underway At Old Tar

Over 170 athletes from over 18 countries are in town competing at this hour in the third annual NACAC Athletics New Life Invitational.

A few weeks ago, officials held a press conference to shed light on the significance of the meet which is a pre-cursor for the Paris Olympics.

NACAC Athletics President Mike Sands also shared on the significance of the event.

Athletes will get two thousand dollars for a gold medal performance and one thousand for silver and five hundred dollars for bronze.
