NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Once weekly non-stop service is now available from one of the busiest and most popular cities on the U.S. West Coast.

It means tourists looking to hop over from LA to Nassau can do so for the first time thanks to the new Jetblue flight.

And in just under five hours passengers of the first ever non-stop flight from Los Angeles disembarked at the Lynden Pindling International Airport.

It now means a world of possibilities for connecting The Bahamas to one of the busiest West Coast cities in the United States.

Even better news for tourism officials touting record-breaking arrivals and new routes this year.

On Saturday morning the very first Nassau-bound passengers enjoyed breakfast and beverages at the LAX departure gate.

Along with a swimming pigs mascot – courtesy of tourism’s Deputy Director General and Aviation Director Kenneth Romer, his team and other tourism partners.

While LAX airport and Jet Blue executives seemed equally as excited to see the two cities connected and for good reason.

And there are benefits on both sides to this new route. It signals more visitors for new markets, more room nights and more connections to the West Coast, the Middle East and Asia.

But the non-stop service means Bahamians are just one plane ride away from the glitz of tinsel town Hollywood, the eclectic laid back Venice Beach and stunning views of the Santa Monica area.

Game nights for the many professional teams that call LA home and the mega concerts attract big names and even bigger crowds.

Or if you simply like a great view from above, the plane ride alone is worth the trip.
