NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Long Island Member of Parliament Adrian Gibson is trying to have his upcoming corruption trial stopped.

In a surprise move, the former executive chairman of the Water and Sewerage Corporation’s lawyer Murrio Ducille KC filed a constitutional motion, seeking a stay of his trial.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson was supposed to impanel jurors to hear the case on Tuesday.

However, jury selection is now on hold and the constitutional motion is set to be heard on Wednesday.

Gibson is facing 96 counts alleging that he pocketed and laundered over $1.25 million from contracts awarded by the Water and Sewerage Corporation while serving as its executive chairman.

Gibson is charged along with his cousin, Rashae Gibson; Joann Knowles, Jerome Missick, Peaches Farquharson, and Elwood Donaldson Jr, the corporation’s former general manager.
