LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES – At least 24 people are dead, and more than a dozen are missing as wildfires tear through Los Angeles County, fueled by drought and strong winds.

Thousands of firefighters are battling flames across 45 square miles, with 92,000 under mandatory evacuation orders and another 89,000 on alert.

The extreme fire risk remains through Wednesday.
