NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two local foundations are partnering to offer over $200,000 in scholarships to promising graduate students.

The initiative, which has been relaunched, will award up to three students.

The Lyford Cay Foundation is partnering with the Templeton World Charity Foundation to provide $240,000 in funding to graduate students. The scholarship, named after the late Sir John Templeton, represents a commitment to helping people achieve their dreams through education.

Chairman of the Lyford Cay Foundations Basil Goulandris explains the scholarship will fund up to three students $40,000 each for up to two years.

Dr. Nicola Virgil-Rolle, Executive Director for Lyford Cay Foundations, says one of the key deterrents to higher learning for Bahamians is the lack of funding, so initiatives like these always help.

To be eligible, applicants must be accepted into an accredited graduate program and must be Bahamian with a strong academic background.
