NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court jury has unanimously acquitted a 59-year-old man accused of molesting his 14-year-old grand-niece.

The man’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of the alleged victim.

Prosecutors alleged that the man raped the teen twice on visits to his home on the family’s compound in New Providence in May 2021.

The man said the teen falsely accused him of raping her because she was upset that he raised concerns about her mother leaving her alone with her current lover.

The accused said he was concerned because the teen had allegedly been raped by the husband of her mother’s best friend
