NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man convicted of sexually abusing his cousin has been jailed for eight years.

The convict, whose name has been withheld, did not show any reaction when Justice Gregory Hilton passed sentenced.

He was convicted of four counts of indecent assault and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse in February 2025. 

The incidents happened between 2019 and 2020 when his accuser was 14 and 15-years-old.

The  victIm said her cousin  caressed her breasts and touched her genitals at her grandmother’s home.

One one occasion, he tried to have sex with her against her will. She said she fought back and a fan fell in the process, causing her grandmother to come into the room.

The woman said she was reluctant to report the matters because he was the family’s favorite.
