NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man whose dogs bit a child and a policeman at separate beaches has pleaded guilty.

Lynden Eldon’s German Shepherd jumped out of his vehicle on October 22 and bit an eight-year-boy, who was walking across the parking lot by Saunders Beach.

On November 16, a group of concerned tourists alerted police after they saw two German Shepherds roaming Junkanoo Beach unattended.

The dogs, which belonged to Eldon, bit Reserve Inspector Carlton McPhee when he went to investigate.

The dogs were seized and Eldon was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to allowing dangerous dogs to roam in a public place, failing to keep dangerous dogs under control, and permitting a ferocious dog to be at large.

Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans ordered Eldon to pay restitution in the amount of $250 to each bite victim to avoid spending one month in custody.

She ordered the return of the impounded dogs to Eldon in the condition that he keeps them confined to his property.

Eldon was ordered to have his dogs properly trained. If he breaches this order, the dogs will be seized and he will be fined $200 to avoid spending four months in prison.

He was also fined $50 or seven days in prison.
