NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man charged with murder in the beating death of his girlfriend has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Delroy Wright, 52, bludgeoned Theresa Knowles to death during a fight on July 30, 2024.

Wright accepted a plea deal when he appeared before Justice Dale Fitzpatrick.

The deal includes 18 years plus two years of post-release probation. Wright will receive credit for the time spent on remand

Should Wright re-offend while on probation, he’ll be sent back to prison for a year.

The court heard that Knowles went to Wright’s home at Homestead Street.

They got into a row that turned physical after Knowles told him that she wanted to see someone else while they were together.

Knowles allegedly threw Wright to the ground and he hit her in the head with a galvanized pipe.

Knowles and Wright had an 11-year-old son.
