NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 22-year-old man who stole $3,000 from a woman’s bank account through online fraud has been sentenced to 12 months probation, plus 300 hours of community service.

Tecaro Alleyne is also required to repay the money that was stolen on July 12.

Nova Munroe requested police action after multiple transfers totalling $3,000 were made from her account to Alleyne’s.

Alleyne later withdrew the money at an ATM.

Alleyne pleaded guilty to stealing and money laundering when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

He is expected to repay the money in installments with an initial payment of $1,000 and subsequent installments of $500.

Alleyne risks spending 12 months behind bars if he violates his probation or misses a payment.
