NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation in partnership with the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity incorporated hosting a leadership conference for local high school students.

This is the only international stop by the foundation and it’s an opportunity for the students to get scholarships to an HBCU in the United States.

Officials say the response has been well and they do intend to return to The Bahamas to host another event.

The foundation raised $127 million to build the MLK memorial that sits in Washington DC.

Prime Minister Philip Davis addressed the youngsters at the event.

Davis telling reporters he’s happy officials chose to hold the event here.
